Main take aways from lecture with Angela Fusco:

Speak to anyone who will speak to you, even if you don't want the job.

- Experience of interviewing is key to acing the one interview that really does matter, should my main aim for the last weeks of my MA be on this type of work, networking, making contacts and preparing myself for entering the industry?

Network graciously

-Don't ask for anything straight off the bat

-Just say hi

-Flatter

-Stroke the ego

-A message could include: Say you admire their work, that would like to learn from them, you would really value a conversation with them to learn more about their role and their experience

-This gets your foot in the door, then when you ask for something later down the line they may be more likely to respond.

Fusco raised the point that men apply for a job when they have 50% of the skills required and women only apply when they believe they have 100% of the skills. We should apply for the jobs we believe we can do even if we don't tick all of the boxes for that job.

Website:

_Fusco recommends using a website as a portfolio and paying for that domain name. it can be sent out to a company before a portfolio _ but then does the portfolio need to be totally new things?

_She can include the link in CV or email to direct people to her work.

_The website itself is clean and clear, highlighting her main projects and final outcomes. Less process is shown and more research is included.
